It is only natural that my first post for this year is a bucket list. And I say bucket list, because when I set up “resolutions”, it never works out how I planned it.
So here it is, my bucket list for 2018:
- Learn something new
I really want to learn a new language. Granted, I might have a head start, since I started learning one in November last year, but I want to become better at it so, by the end of 2018, I can identify myself as a multilingual (I have this thing where I understand several phrases in more than 4 languages besides English -which is not my native language, but I can never say I fully speak another one).
2. Get healthy.
Notice how I didn’t say “Lose weight” (even though I probably should have)? I have tried multiple diets and programs, and I always seem to circle back to the yo-yo effect, where I put everything I shed, back on my hips and thighs. This year I want to focus on getting healthy, and surely if I stop craving carbs (the bad carbs like pizza and burgers, not the good ones like rice and noodles) I will see something shift.
3. Trust myself.
Yes, I need to trust myself more. Why? Because good things happen when I’m confident in myself and my own strengths. No one is going to come to me and say “you got this, you are amazing, you are determined to get it right and I know you will, because you are a badass”. I have to trust myself that I am a badass, and badass things will follow.
4. Love myself.
Not in the 18+ way, but in the “you can’t love others if you don’t love yourself” way. The sayings are true: while you shouldn’t burn yourself to light others, you cannot give back from an empty cup, either. When you are in perfect balance and alignment with yourself, that is when you can turn to others and truly open your soul to them (God, that was so deep, I can see Adele rolling in it…)
5. Work for what I want
Sadly, “wish for it and it will come to you” is a phrase that applies close to never. Of course, there are cases when it happens, and it is amazing for the people it happens to, but in the other 99% of the cases, you will have to work hard if you want to get what you want. And I plan on doing that hard, this year. I won’t wait around for the opportunity to present itself, I’m going to search for that opportunity in every little corner and aspect of my life, until I find it, and when I do, I will pursue it like a mad woman. Because, at the end of the day, this is what I consider myself to be: a mad woman. A little madness never hurt anybody.
“You’re entirely bonkers. But I’ll tell you a secret… all of the best people are.” – Alice in Wonderland
As you might have noticed, this year I’m focusing more on my sanity and well-being, rather than my “outer layer”, but I’ll still try to maintain a balance between the two. With that being said, I hope I inspired you to love yourself, take better care of yourself and to achieve the best version of yourself.
Have an awesome and amazing year ahead!
